Re: Guns and third person

Celaria may not need any shooting elements... but this demo that you showed off some time ago has some potential. :D The parkour may not need to be as intricate as Celaria's, but add some bunny-hop acceleration (or strafe-jumping) and some simple wall-jumping, and I think you'd have the perfect fas...

Re: Custom Engine in the works

Forgot to implement a "quit" button. XD
Colission detection basically consists of a "if you hit something, stop moving" check. This will result in getting stuck in the geometry. :/
(of course that's not how the final code will work.)

It's all very early. We will see how it pans out. :)

Re: Guns and third person

Yeah, no plans on adding first person shooter elements into the game. :)

I don't have anything against fast paced first person shooters (i quite like them).
But Celaria was designed as a first person platformer first and foremost. No plans on changing that.

Re: Custom Engine in the works

Alright, got carried away with programming. XD Here is a download of the current build: DOWNLOAD This is all WIP, thus crashes,bugs,etc... might still occur. Note that i had to remove the skybox from this download as it's not mine and i didn't ask for permission to use it for the public. I removed t...

Re: Custom Engine in the works

Currently the engine runs only on windows. I made sure that the codebase is as portable as possible (used multiplatform libraries, OpenGL instead of DirectX, etc...) It's just that my current workflow works only on windows. (Visual Studio Compiler, i didn't compile any libraries for linux yet, etc.....

Re: Custom Engine in the works

Will definitely upload a playable demo. :)
Have to add/fix some minor stuff first. (Will be ready in a few days, depending on if i hit a roadblock again.)

Custom Engine in the works

This topic is not entirely related to Celaria as a game (but it has affected the development/progress on the game). As i don't really have any active blog on the internet, i figured i would post this at least here so that others can try it. So this is the custom game engine which i've been working o...

Re: Exciting Developments

Do you have any idea of what the scope of the engine will be? Do you think it could be modular enough to easily reuse it for other games, or even allow others to create mods for it? I do like to keep it simple and customizable. Adding too much stuff and making the engine handle everything for you c...

Re: Exciting Developments

Is the entire map supposed to be slanted? The one you were playing in the video shows the floating blocks facing upward, but the ones in my build are all slanted 45*. I was testing the slope physics of the character controller. For testing purposes i rotated every block on the map by around 35 degr...

Re: Exciting Developments

Here is the download: Download Unzip the content in its own directory and start the game.exe file. But be aware that i didn't really test the current build on different hardware other than my own. (All sorts of issues can arise because of that.) On the content side of things, the options button does...
